After Apple’s announcement today, what do you think about the ipad? Do you want one? Do you not want one? What do you think it fairly compares to? Is it a Kindle killer? Is it a Netbook killer? Is it an ipod killer? What is it to you? Will you get one or skip it – now, or forever?

is this shot using the vado hd?
I have MacBook 17in and an iPhone. Mac is great for all my computing needs. If I need to use a phone Ill use iPhone, I also my check my e-mail, play a game or brows web for 10-20 min, I can play music. But what if Im on the road for week? MacBook is to heavy and iPhone has small screen to use it for long time. I take an iPad. I dont like netbooks, Steve is right: they are just cheap notebooks. I dont need cheap notebook. iPad has all I need. You have to see if it has all you need.
Ok..maybe I am confused..but what are the differences?
IPad is not a notebook or netbook and never going to be one. If you don’t know why you need one, you don’t. Should you buy one, I don’t think so. I’ll buy one.
we can buy slick notebooks with touchscreen for 699$ and prices are dropping quickly…now give me one tiny little reason why I would buy an ipad?
First is that its WAAAAY too expensive. second, this is not a tablet pc, it is something totally different so Chris is right, you shouldn’t compare it to a pc or a mac-book, because it isn’t supposed to fulfill that role. third, this is probably a toe in the water and that is why apple didn’t deck it out with all the features that would of racked the price up even higher. i don’t see myself buying one in the near future because i could spend 500 bucks on something way more useful.
Buy a Notion Ink Adam and be happy!
Nvidia tegra2 processor, multi-task, flash, camera, 3USB + 1HDMI, SD card, Pixel Qi screen, 16hrs HD video battery life, 1080p support. AND its thinner than ipad ( I mean…c’mon!)
i think it should be mor like a laptop ie have usbs etc.
what happened to your face
u look retarded
lol has anyone else noticed that the ipad is in the same design as the first iphone?…..so im guessing the next ipad will be in the form of the iphone 3g
what a nerd
P.S. If all the apps were like FotoFun I would definitely get one to add to my collection. I just wouldn’t use it all that much.
Microsoft has added many wonderful touch features to Windows 7. The 500GB Asus online storage is a nice touch too. I may even get one to play with even though its not needed. Unlike Steve Jobs I’m cool with a stylus and the Asus might make a nice sketchpad if it is pressure sensitive.
But that is a topic for another video.
In any case, the T91MT is a wonderful Windows netbook that is smaller than I need. It does however make a nice standalone device when paired with an external optical drive. The convertible form factor paired with Intel’s atom processor is also fun. It would be an awesome dorm room machine. It also has a stylus and Windows 7 I think.
I’m not sure what you mean about less performance. I think it’s clear the chips emphasize different things. Plugged in and on a table top I think its clear the Core Duo would outclass the A4 in any benchmark. But that is not how I will use the iPad.
So you take the 8-hour rating at face value and dismiss the 10-hr rating from Apple out of hand? Sorry we’ll just have to see for ourselves when it is shipped.
It’s also obvious the A4 consumes less power than the latest gen Core Duo. But again we’ll have to see.
I think a netbook is a perfectly reasonable and price-conscious choice. It gives great value despite the compromises of the form factor. But since I have a 13″ Core Duo laptop, I don’t need a tiny netbook.
LOL Yes I guess I am a fanboy. I’ve been waiting for this device since 1984. I’ve noticed many comments here on YouTube aren’t particularly well thought out. Others commenters, I imagine, post for the cathartic pleasure of lashing out anonymously.
I just think the iPad deserves a fair shake, despite its shortcomings, both perceived and real.
Although it’s a mobile device the iPad really is never going to be as portable as a phone. If I were Apple, I would have started the line at 32GB, 63GB, and 128GB. I also would have built in the 3G radio instead of charging a premium for it.
In any case I’m more interested in the behavior of the interface at this size. Screen real estate, responsiveness, form factor and ease of use are what attract me to this device.
I was shocked that anyone would wanna spent $499 bucks on a 16 gig, no flash, no cam, no nothing but iphone apps, let alone $849 for the 64gb and 3G.
My phone is less than half the price, has half the ram, a webcam, a touch screen, plus it’s easier to carry around.
Anyone buying this should be castrated, least they breed back into the human race.
Wow you’re insane!
The chip isn’t less power hungry, it’s rated for 8 hours. The entire acer timeline series has a minimum of 8.5. Remember on full load the iPad isn’t going to last more than 4 hours, reguardless of what apple says.
There is zero benefit to this device other than making a youtube video of yourself smashing the bloody thing with a lump hammer!
Less performance more cost. You’ve gotta have a brain injury, or be really really gullable. Just post apple your cash it’s easier
@Etcher Don’t lie, you dream of having gay sex with him.
